From a very young age I was told by my parents, “You just have to learn to swim. As soon as you can, you must stop again. But not before”. And my two younger brothers were told the same with Lifeguard Class.
And it's actually a really good idea to say to your children. At least it worked for us. All three of us learned that, and more. And I'm really happy about that today. Now we can go to the beach, the swimming pool or the pool without any major worries. My parents don't have to keep an eye on us all the time, although it's still a good idea. At the same time, it's great for us, as we don't have to constantly look after everywhere we move. There is more calm. And I'm sure your child will be too. You never know if your child will suddenly become so wild and good at swimming that he will continue for many years to come.
Children cannot learn to swim by themselves - they need training.
It is incredibly dangerous to venture out into open water on the coasts. Especially for small children. Big waves, strong current and cold water are not good combinations for a small child. The child can easily be washed away where it cannot bottom any more. Even if it just sits at the water's edge, as the child probably finds something more exciting a little further out in the water and therefore moves out into deeper water. It also becomes really dangerous. Because if the child has not learned to swim beforehand, the chances of drowning are extremely high. The child will quickly go under water and have trouble getting to the surface. And if you, as an adult, are not very attentive, the child is suddenly gone. No one will experience that. Ancestral I could imagine with American Lifeguard USA.
So if this is not to happen to you and your child, I would personally recommend that your child start swimming as soon as possible.
It also reassures you as an adult if your child can swim.
If the child has learned to swim and wants to be near the water, it is not only wonderful for the child, but also for you as an adult. It reassures you as an adult that you don't have to be on high alert all the time when your child is sitting at the water's edge. Then you can do anything else, like sunbathe, read a book or listen to some music. Absolutely without the big worries. Your child can swim without any problems. And it's lovely. Then you can let the child run around as you like, without always having to be there to keep an eye. This does not just apply at the beach, but everywhere you are in contact with water. It is a fact that water is dangerous in many ways, but the chance of something happening is just that much less if only your child can swim. Then the child can also teach you to swim, if it is ;-)
Another big advantage of the child being able to swim is also when (it will happen) your child has to go to the swimming pool with his friends, and you probably can't come along. Because if your child can't swim like the only one, and therefore has to wear arm wings and a belt, it's not terribly cool for you as an adult. Does he/she now remember to put the equipment on? Is something happening now? You avoid these concerns if your child has just learned to swim. Damn smart for both parties.
There is nothing cooler than being able to swim as a child
As a child, it's just cool to be able to swim. You don't have to be particularly good, but just being able to stay afloat for a longer period of time is completely liberating. I myself remember when I first experienced being able to swim alone. Hold up a cool feeling. To be able to jump from the flippers in the four-metre deep pool without having parents in the water. Being able to go to the beach with friends without worries from home. Being able to swim without a belt and fins is perhaps the best of all. So liberating. It is such a great victory to be able to swim. It just boosts one's self-confidence by ten thousand. "Look mom, look mom, I can swim all the way there!". "Dad, do you want to see me jump off the 3-meter seesaw"

Swimming can also become your child's lifestyle for the next several years
Although the starting point for your child to go swimming is to learn to swim, there is still a relatively large possibility that it will be more than that. That's what happened to me and my little brother. Today we swim many times a week, and it's not just to learn to swim. It's to compete. And it's damn cool. Nothing less. And it can also happen to your child.
It might take a year or two to learn to swim, but in that time you can quickly approach the competition teams and it's often a lot of fun too. You find some good swimming buddies, you get a taste of the competition and you can feel that you are developing in terms of swimming.
